This cropped photo is from a lo-res image of a poignant photo taken by Rich Clarkson, a preeminent sports photographer. This is a grainy black and white copy of a color photo posted on his web page (link below) along those of other notable Olympic athletes. His photography s remarkable!

True and inspiring!
x year in retrospect

this time last year i was really hitting my stride with track.  My times were dropping like crazy, and i was having a great time.  It was my first year of running ever, and i just fell in love with the sport.  A year later, after a summer of high mileage, and working harder than i ever have before, i’m slower than i was last year. by a considerable amount.  This doesn’t make sense to me at all, how can i be running 2:08 in the 800 when i was running 2:04 at this point last year? and after all this hard work? it’s been very upsetting, and frustrating. has anybody else hit a hard plateau at some point in their training?
